On Friday morning I was booked to pose in costume at Earl Hague Secondary School. I got my costume together and lugged it all the way up there only to find out the teacher didn't need it after all, so I posed in pants and a shirt. The day was split because of an assembly and so I had a break between 10:15 and 11:15. I went for an early lunch or a late breakfast. I called Marie and she said she was feeling much better and might be persuaded to meet me later if I called her. After work I went to the Board of Education and handed in my time sheet. I picked up my cheque from the Ontario College of Art and cashed it. I called Marie and we decided to meet at 15:00. I walked to Market Square and read the paper while I waited. After she arrived, she ordered something at the counter and when she stood up from her wheelchair, I saw that she had a nice ass. We talked until she had to leave.

In this story Granny is still in conflict with Pearl over her yodeling. Every time she hears it she lets Elly May's dogs into the house to force Pearl on top of the piano. Jed finds out that Granny is behind it and makes her stop letting the dogs in. So then Granny decides to follow Mrs. Drysdale's example and phone the police on Pearl. The same two officers come as last time and this time they have names. The yodeling cop played by Eddie Dean is called Sergeant Dean and he's become good friends with and a student of Pearl. But when Granny thinks he's going to arrest Pearl she is overcome with remorse. Even after she finds that Pearl is in no danger she offers herself as a slave to Pearl.
Meanwhile, officer Kelly goes around to the pool to check on Elly, because he's overwhelmed by her beauty. Kelly finds Elly minding Granny's still but he doesn't know it's a still. He just sees the open fire and tells Elly that's against the law in Beverly Hills. When the cops are about to leave, Kelly describes the copper apparatus that he thinks the Clampetts use to heat their swimming pool. Dean however recognizes that Kelly is describing a still.
When Granny thinks that somebody told the police about her still, she thinks it was Pearl and she hits her over the head with a skillet. Granny says, "You know the code of the hills. What's the most traitorous thing a person can do to his neighbour?" Both Elly and Jethro say, "Tell the revenuers he's got a still!"
When Dean and Kelly come into the kitchen Jed confesses that it's his still, but then Elly says it's hers, Jethro says it's his, and Pearl says it's hers. Finally Granny admits she's behind it. Dean says nobody will be arrested as long as they don't make any more rheumatiz medicine. Granny says she's got enough for the winter but Kelly says they dumped it all in the pool. The last scene shows Elly's pet duck Charlie emerging drunk from the pool.
Officer Kelly was played by Brian Kelly, whose father was a Michigan Supreme Court justice and had also served as the governor of Michigan for four years. Kelly went to college with the intention of becoming a lawyer like his father but after getting work as a model he branched off into radio and TV commercials. He went out to Hollywood and got supporting roles on various TV series. He was in the cast of two shows that didn't make it: "21 Beacon Street" and "Straightaway". He co-starred for the three-year run of the popular series "Flipper". This led to a starring role in the movie, "Around the World Under the Sea". In 1970 he was in a severe motorcycle accident that paralyzed two of his limbs and killed his acting career. But he went on to success in behind the scenes work when he became the executive producer of "Blade Runner". Philip K. Dick didn't like the screenplay that was adapted from his short story but Kelly convinced him to let them go ahead with it.
I worked a bit more on my essay and came up with a tentative second title. But again I found myself dozing off before it was time to get ready for bed.
On Thursday I got up around 9:00 and shaved. I called Nancy to tell her that I was on my way, but she said they were going to bring my daughter down to me, however, they wouldn't be there until 11:30. I gritted my teeth because I was depending on Nancy, which meant they would be even later than that. I showered, had breakfast, and started a collage. Marie called and told me we couldn't meet because she was sick. I hoped it was only a cold. I did about an hour of darkroom work before Nancy arrived. I took my daughter for a long walk up the nature trail and then along Kingston Road to Silverbirch. On the way south to Queen she chased a cat halfway around a block. She almost fell asleep in my arms but got distracted. We went to visit the lady in the variety store near my old place and then I took her home. After she fell asleep I called Marie.

This story begins with Jethro running to the house with mail from Tennessee, but he's so excited that he runs right through the house and into the swimming pool. The water causes the ink on the letter to run and so all they can make out is that their old friends Lester Flatt and Earl Scruggs are coming to visit for an engagement. In this fictionalized version of their lives, Lester and Earl used to be in competition for Pearl's affection. She could never decide between them and so eventually they gave up, moved to Nashville, and became famous. Jed thinks that Lester and Earl are coming to get a final decision from Pearl. Jed decides to throw a wingding in honour of Lester and Earl's visit and sends them an invitation.
But then we see Lester and Earl on the plane to Los Angeles and they are traveling there with their gorgeous wives for a musical engagement. But Gladys Flatt and Louise Scruggs have heard that their husbands used to be in love with Pearl Bodine and they are curious to know how much competition Pearl is. After landing in LA and leaving their husbands for the beauty parlour, Gladys and Louise go to the Clampett mansion so they can check Pearl out. They pose as cosmetics sellers and Jed tells them that Pearl might want some beauty products from them and that she'll be down the stairs shortly. But the beautiful woman who comes down the stairs in an elegant gown is Jed's daughter Elly May. Gladys and Louise think Elly is Pearl and they immediately leave to go back to the beauty parlour.
Because of this, Lester and Earl arrive at Jed's place without their wives. They sing "The Ballad of Jed Clampett", "Pearl Pearl Pearl" and "Down the Road". Everybody dances, including Lester and Elly's dogs. Pearl decides that she won't marry either of them because she doesn't want to cause them to fight and break up the musical duo. Lester and Earl decide to ask the Clampetts to dance on stage with them for their show but Pearl still thinks they are asking her to marry them and she says no. Lester and Earl leave and the Clampetts think they've left in dismay over being turned down. But they come back hours later with their wives and Jed thinks that they married the two cosmetics ladies on the rebound that day.
Lester and Earl's wives really were named Gladys and Louise but in this case, they were played by Joi Lansing and Midge Ware.
Joi Lansing was a top model and in most of her movies she served as eye candy. But she proved that she could act in her recurring role as Shirley Swanson on the Bob Cummings Show. According to a book by Alexis Hunter, Lansing and Hunter met in 1969 and lived together as lovers while pretending to be sisters until Lansing died in 1972.
Midge Ware was also a very popular model. Like Joi, in most of her movies, she appeared as only a gorgeous showpiece. Her first movie was "Bedtime for Bonzo" starring Ronald Reagan. She co-starred in the film "All Woman".
I searched for bedbugs and found a well-fed adult on the wall above the foot of my bed. It was waiting for me to kill it and it had dark blood inside. It looked like it might have been ready to lay eggs.
On Wednesday morning when I left for work, I forgot to turn my answering machine on again. I was at work with plenty of time to spare. At lunch, I got some fries and spring water. In the afternoon I noticed that I'd lost $20, I assumed through a hole in my pocket. I called Marie but she said her mother was ill and so she had to stay by the phone, so I headed toward home. I stopped at the cleaners to make the final payment on the repairs for my winter coat and left my jacket to be cleaned and repaired. I wore the coat on the way home and a lot of women were looking at me. I tried to reach Mike Copping, but I couldn't and when I called my daughter she wasn't interested in the phone. There was a message on my Telepersonals voice mailbox from someone named Judy who asked when it was okay to call me. I did an astrological chart and left for work. I wrote this in St George Station waiting for the northbound train to take me to Columbus Centre and I was all caught up on my journal before it arrived. I posed for the art group doing all gestures, but I wasn't paid that night.

Different kinds of words are used to describe her current white body and her old black body. I say she feels distanced from her new white body and describes it as she would that of a stranger. I finished editing last night's and today's lecture notes and was caught up on my journal at 18:40.
I retook the dictionary quiz several times and was able to change my score from .89 to 1.03 out of 1.05. I can't figure out which of the word origin processes I misnamed. I seem to have gotten one wrong but I get the same score each time I redo it. My score is now 98%, which is an A+ anyway. It seems ridiculous to just redo it over and over until I get 100%.

I made pizza on a slice of Bavarian sandwich bread with Basilica sauce and five-year-old cheddar. I had it with a beer while watching episode 19 of The Beverly Hillbillies.
Pearl has decided to go into business as a music teacher, charging 20 cents for yodeling lessons. Because of Pearl's yodeling, the family bloodhound Duke has run away from home. Duke ran to the Drysdale residence next door and so Mrs. Drysdale calls the dog catcher to have him taken away, and she also calls the police to stop Pearl from disturbing the peace with her yodeling.
Two cops pull up in a squad car and the sergeant goes in but he comes out a little bit tipsy, talking in a southern US accent and yodeling. But unlike Pearl's obviously dubbed yodeling, he really is singing.
Elly May follows the dog catcher and beats up everyone at the dog pound. Jane Hathaway finds her locked in a cage with Duke. Jane lets her out but Elly refuses to leave unless the other animals are released. Jane says that someone needs to pay to take them home and so next we see Jane and Elly in a car full of several dogs and one cat. Elly names them all and teaches the cat to swim. The police are called again and this time the sergeant's partner is escorted by Jed to the pool to talk about the animals. But as soon as he sees Elly he is overcome by her beauty and forgets about the dogs.
The yodeling cop was played by Eddie Dean, who was the brother of country music, TV, and sausage star, Jimmie Dean. Eddie made his name as a radio singer in the 1930s and then went to Hollywood to act as a singing cowboy. He became a star in the 1940s but his movies were notoriously poorly produced. Both Gene Autrey and Roy Rogers agreed that he was the best cowboy singer of all time. He was also a songwriter and his most famous song was "I Dreamed of a Hillbilly Heaven."
I had to rush to work on Tuesday morning and so I forgot to turn my answering machine on. I had time to buy a coffee and the paper on my way to George Brown College. I posed until 11:30 and then walked down to St. Lawrence Market where I had a coffee at The Golden Griddle. From there I called Marie and she said she'd come over. She took a long time. We talked about her lovers, how she'd had forty in the last ten years, and why she didn't leave her husband. I sensed that there was a bit more of an emotional distance between us than the last time we met. It was really hard for me to deal with the sneaking around on her partner. It sucked that she said she had a 16:30 curfew and didn't want me to walk her to her door. I went someplace for french fries and a couple of beers before going to work for Ross Mendez in Experimental Arts at the Ontario College of Art. he was impressed by my effect on his students.
