Melodie Johnson

On Friday morning I worked out the chords for the intro of “D’où reviens-tu Billy Boy?” by Boris Vian.
I memorized the fourth and fifth verses of “Love Fifteen” by Serge Gainsbourg. There are just two verses left to nail down and I might have them all in my head tomorrow.
I weighed 86.3 kilos before breakfast, which is the lightest I’ve been in the morning since April 6.
Around midday I sanded the area of the southern wall of my bathroom that’s above the door. All that’s left that I would need a step ladder to sand is the upper left corner of the south wall. But I think it will be easier to just stand on the bathroom sink counter to do it. I’ll sand it on Sunday.
I weighed 87.1 kilos before lunch.
In the afternoon I took a bike ride downtown and back.
            I weighed 86.1 kilos at 17:45.
I was caught up on my journal at 19:00.
I took my camera and tripod out and walked around looking for Whispering Ghost with Wings of Silver. I walked to Sorauren and then east to Elm Grove. When I met him on July 1 he said he lived with his girlfriend and son. But when David the beggar saw him a week ago he said he was on his way to his ex-girlfriend’s place to visit his son. So he might not even be living in Parkdale anymore.
In the Movie Maker project for my electric performance of “Dance and Sing to Baby Pop” I synchronized the audio with the video. I added fade to black, watercolour, threshold, and sharpen effects. I’ll decide tomorrow if I want to keep them.
I had a potato with gravy and two chicken drumsticks while watching season 6, episodes 23 and 24 of Bewitched
In the first story Samantha and Tabitha are in a toy store buying a birthday present for one of Tabitha’s friends. Irving Bates the salesman tells Tabitha to have fun while she’s a kid. She asks if he doesn’t like being an adult. He says he does but he had a lot more fun when he was nine. She tells him to wish for it and he thinks they are playing a game so he says, “I wish I was nine years old again”. Tabitha turns him into a boy. Somehow the suit he’s wearing shrinks as well. While he’s trying to convince the manager that he is Irving, Tabitha is gone. So he tells the manager that Irving is goofing off in the back so that while he’s gone he can find Samantha’s address among the credit receipts. He tries to drive his car but he can’t reach the pedals and after a hassle with a cop he takes a cab to Samantha’s house. He shows her his driver’s license and Samantha realizes he’s telling the truth. Tabitha tries to turn him back but it doesn’t work. Samantha calls Dr. Bombay and he says the spell reversal doesn’t work because Irving really wants to be a kid again and Tabitha wants to have a big brother. Samantha needs to make Irving want to change back so she takes him to where his girlfriend Ruthie works. Samantha gives Ruthie’s boss the urge to make a pass at her then the nine year old Irving jumps in with some karate and punches him in the knee. Irving realizes he wants to be with Ruthie and gets Tabitha to change him back. But he is grateful to her for turning him into a kid so he can appreciate his life.
In the second story Dusty Harrisson is a college graduate who wants a career in advertizing and is also the daughter of an important client of McMann and Tate. She is allowed to come in and observe Darrin while he’s working. Samantha knows about this but Endora thinks she is gullible to trust Darrin around a young college student. Samantha makes her mother promise with the witches honour that she won’t cast any spells on Darrin or Dusty. She promises and then she gets Samantha’s cousin Serena to cast a spell. Dusty arrives in Darrin’s office and is very businesslike and blunt. But then Serena casts her love spell causing Dusty to fall for Darrin. Darrin temporarily gets rid of her by sending her on an errand but she later shows up at his door. Darrin tells Dusty he is going to ask Larry to assign another executive for her to observe but she starts crying hysterically. She tells her father John Harrison and now he thinks Darrin led her on. Harrison shows up at Darrin’s door. Samantha has gone to look for Serena but Serena doubles back and disguises herself as Samantha to flirt with Harrison. Then Dusty arrives to declare her love for Darrin as she traps him on the couch. Samantha returns and forces Serena to remove the spell. When Dusty becomes conscious of herself on top of Darrin she thinks he’s the aggressor and begins to scream. Her father confronts Darrin and tries to punch him but Samantha puts up a shield and he hurts his hand. Dusty calls Darrin a brute and leaves with her father. Darrin is worried about losing Harrison’s account until he sees on the news that Harrison has been arrested for embezzlement and so losing his account was a good thing.
Dusty was played by Melodie Johnson, who first co-starred in the TV movie Kicks. She co-starred in The Ride to Hangman’s Tree, and The Moonshine War. Later she took a UCLA extension course in Creative Writing. She wrote a play entitled Lady of the House. She became a detective novelist. She wrote The Mother Shadow, which was nominated for an Edgar Award, and its sequel Beauty Dies, both novels featuring detectives Claire Conrad and Maggie Hill.
