On Sunday I didn’t put the denture in until it was time for song
practice, so yoga was much more relaxing. Not that it wouldn’t be relaxing
anyway, but just comparatively less so. Having that upper front gap in my mouth
filled has given me back the letter “F” when I’m singing and everything else I
belt out sounds better too. I have noticed though that the false tooth does
loosen very slightly over time. About every three songs, when I pushed it I
could feel the little snap of it going back into place. I don’t know if there
would be any danger of it flying out but it helps my confidence to be mindful
of the possibility.
I had expected on
Sunday to finish my review of Linda Stitt’s Words and Music Salon but the
research was time consuming.
I watched two episodes
of Leave It To Beaver, one of which, though not a great story, had an
interesting situation. Beaver was invited to spend the weekend on a farm but
his father couldn’t drive him there because of a prior commitment. Wally though
offered to escort him there on the bus. About halfway there they stopped for
lunch and so they ate in a diner. When they were finished, Wally went to pay
the bill and Beaver went to buy a comic book so they agreed they’d meet back on
the bus. Beaver though got confused as to which bus to get on. When he asked
someone, they wanted to know which bus he wanted. He told them it was the
Mayfield bus because that was where they had gotten on, not realizing that
busses are named for their destination. Beaver got on the bus that was headed
back home while Wally continued to where they were supposed to go. I would have
totally freaked out if I’d been in Wally’s shoes.
On Monday I spent the day trying to finish my review of Linda
Stitt’s salon but it still wasn’t done by the end of the day.
In the afternoon I went
out to the liquor store and bought the last can of beer that I would have for
the next month, because of my annual fast.
I watched two episodes
of Leave It To Beaver. The writers rarely seemed to come up with an actual interestingly
written teleplay for that show. I think they would first brainstorm crazy but
plausible situations for Beaver to get caught up in and then they’d write a
script around it. In one story, Beaver and his friend Larry stayed after school
to clean the blackboards and Larry told Beaver a fib that the principal has a
spanking machine in her office closet with multiple paddles that she uses on
older students. On their way out, Beaver realized that he’d forgotten his cap
back in the classroom, so he went back to get it while Larry went home. Beaver
passed Mrs. Rayburn’s office and curiosity got the better of him. He tried the
door and it was unlocked, so he went in to see. After discovering that really
was no spanking machine he heard the night watchman making his rounds and hid
under his desk. The watchman came in, looked around then turned out the light
and locked the door behind him, thus locking Beaver in her office. He couldn’t
get anyone’s attention from the window, nor could he get her phone to work, so
finally he pulled the fire alarm.
