Linda Christian

On Friday morning I noticed that my friend Cad Gold Jr. had posted a response to a comment that I’d made on his Facebook page. He had posted a meme that showed a picture of the severely bruised body of a woman that had been beaten. I told him that he was obsessed with rape, even though he say anything against it. His response was that an ex-girlfriend of mine had said that I had raped her and he named three of my other exes, saying that I had also sexually assaulted them.
I found it very upsetting and hurtful that he would joke like that about me being a rapist while actually naming my ex-girlfriends. I threatened to unfriend him if he didn’t remove their names and a few minutes later he did so. He doesn’t seem to understand that the internet is forever and if you post something about someone on social media there are plenty of people that will believe it and pass it on.
I finally got my journal updated that night.
I watched an Alfred Hitchcock Hour story about a plain bank teller named Oscar on vacation in Las Vegas who meets a beautiful casino hostess named Eva. She rejects his request to take her to dinner but he later comes to her aid after she kills one of her boyfriends for attacking her. She goes to work, but finds she’s been fired for making crooked deals. With no prospects, she goes to Oscar and he says he can find her work in Los Angeles. He ends up marrying her and it turns out to have be the biggest mistake of her life. All she does is lie around and get drunk. When Oscar walks in on Eva an old boyfriend named Bill, he tells her he wants a divorce. She says she’ll divorce him for $50,000; otherwise she’ll stay with him and drive his career into the dump. Bill comes to see Oscar at the bank and asks him to meet him at his hotel because he can offer a solution to his problem. Bill says that he will kill Eva and then show up in disguise to rob the bank. Bill comes with a small suitcase and a note saying he has a bomb and that he is to put $1.5 million in the case. Oscar gives him the money but as soon as Bill takes it Oscar pulls out a gun and shoots him. Oscar gets a promotion and a reward for heroism. One cop suspects that mousy Oscar has pulled off the perfect double murder but he can’t prove a thing.
Eva was played by Linda Christian, whom I was surprised to find out was Mexican. Hr father was Dutch and her mother was of Spanish, German and French descent. I noticed that she had a strange accent that phased in and out during her performance. She spoke six European languages fluently and also a little bit of Russian and Arabic. She had two daughters with Tyrone Power and raised them mostly in Italy.
