December 8, 1990: The birthing centre was halfway between your grandmother's apartment and a hospital ward

Thirty years ago today

I got home at 1:00 after working 16 hours and went straight to bed.
The phone rang at 7:30 and it was Nancy. I had to meet her at 9:00 at Yorkdale to catch the bus to Brampton and check out the Birthing Centre in the hospital there. She caught the York Mills bus but was twenty five minutes late to meet me. It took us an hour to get to Brampton and then we walked to the hospital. We were on time for the tour of the birthing centre, which looked sort of halfway between your grandmother's apartment and a hospital ward. The nurses were sickeningly perky.
Nancy wanted to see someone else's ultrasound before making a decision about getting one.
We went for Chinese food before catching the bus back to Yorkdale.
On the way home I stopped at the Beer Store.
We made love and then went to sleep.
