Thirty years ago today
On Monday Nancy came to pick up my daughter before I left for work. I posed from 13:00 to 19:00 and then went home briefly. I went back downtown to Yehudah's place to talk about rehearsing for my November 1 show. He wasn't there but I saw him on his way home while I was heading for Crickets. I sat at Crickets with Diana Scala and she showed me her book of poems, Glimpses of Israel or something like that. I didn't find it very interesting except for two or three lines about Arab and Israeli soldiers being united in the ultimate democracy of death. I put my hand over the rest of the poem and told her it should have ended with those lines. She said, "Oh! So you sympathize with the Palestinians!" Then she argued withy me all night that the conflict is not the fault of the Israelis while I just calmly said, "I don't care about which child hit the other first". After the open stage I walked her home to the building where Rochdale College used to be. She wanted me to escort her to Mudds cabaret on Thursday. I walked down Yonge to Queen and took the streetcar home.
