Thirty years ago today
On Monday I rehearsed with Steve Lowe, Jubal Brown, and Arjan for our gig that night at the Cameron. Nik Beat didn’t show because he had a flat tire. I went for a beer with Steve, then to Vena’s and then to the Sopra Sotto open stage. My band was at the Cameron for the 20:00 sound check after which Jackie Just and her band played. Christian and the Lions went on at 22:00. Between 40 and 50 came, most of the people I know in town, and everybody was dancing. It was great, although Christian and the Lions pretty much sucked. A few people commented that Steve was out of place in the band. He had way too much bluesy finesse for the raw and edgy feel of my songs. This was the last concert of the original Christian and the Lions band.
