On Wednesday morning I worked out the chords for the second verse of “Les Araignées” (The Arachnids) by Boris Vian.
I worked out the chords for the first two verses of “Flashback” by Serge Gainsbourg.
I played my Martin acoustic during song practice for the last of two sessions. It went out of tune quite a bit but just short of an annoying amount. I did have a good time. Tomorrow I’ll begin a two session stretch of playing my electrics.
I weighed 88.1 kilos before breakfast.
At 12:45 I headed down to Bathurst and Queen to meet Brian Haddon for lunch at 13:00. We didn’t know where we were going to go but we were looking for a patio. We walked on the sunny side to Trinity Bellwoods Park and then crossed over to walk east. We stopped at the Silver Snail for nostalgia’s sake because we both used to buy a lot of comics. The pull isn’t there anymore for either of us. We settled on The Dog’s Bollocks for lunch. We shared a pitcher of some brand of Great Lakes Lager. His surgery is tentatively scheduled for October 22. He says the surgeon told him that chances are he will only need the surgery and no radiation or chemo will be required, so that’s good news.
I got home around 16:15.
I took a siesta at 16:30 and woke up at around 18:15.
I weighed 88.35 kilos at 19:00, which is the heaviest I’ve been in the evening since November 9 of last year.
I was caught up in my journal at 20:21.
I did a little work on my “Insisting On Angels” Movie Maker project but not much before supper.
I made pizza on a slice of multigrain sandwich bread with marinara sauce, tomato pesto, a cubed slice of ham, and five year old cheddar. I had it with a glass of Creemore while watching episode 32 of Checkmate.
Georgia Golden is a fashion designer and the senior partner in her own company. She’s been receiving death threats and her junior partner Harry Winters has urged her to call Checkmate. She does but just before Don and Jed arrive at her studio a mannequin on wheels comes rolling towards her with a scissors attached. Jed takes the scissors for analysis. Winters tells Jed the scissors aren’t theirs because they don’t have a “G” on them. He says Georgia’s former partner Bill Foster has a violent temper and when they split up he swore he would ruin her. He now has his own line and he’s Georgia’s biggest competitor. Jed goes to see Foster and happens to meet Georgia’s sister Shiela there. When Shiela hears of the attack, she leaves. When Jed leaves, Sheila picks him up in her convertible. She says she went to Foster to ask if he’s been threatening Georgia but she doesn’t want Georgia to know. She drops him off at Hyatt’s place and kisses him goodbye. Briefly we see someone turning an iron on and setting it plate down, assumingly in Georgia’s studio. Hyatt tells Jed he has to go back to Georgia’s studio to check for clues. He goes there with Don and luckily so because there is now a fire caused by the iron. They put it out and save the studio. The next day Shiela tells Georgia she is leaving. She is her younger sister and finds Georgia too controlling. Georgia grabs her arm and Sheila’s handbag falls to the floor revealing that it holds Georgia’s top new design. She thinks Shiela planed to sell it to Foster. Shiela storms out. Hyatt says two people would benefit from Georgia dying: Winters and Shiela. Jed goes to dinner with Sheila who says she has no idea how the dress got in her handbag. Don arranges for Foster to get together with Georgia but she still thinks he’s trying to kill her and leaves. Later at the studio Winters is alone in one of the design rooms when there is a gunshot from the window. Don thinks it was meant for Georgia. Hyatt determines that the shot would have been fired from the roof across the street but he takes some of the window glass to analyze. Hyatt determines that the shot was actually fired from just outside the window and not from a rooftop. Checkmate decides to use Georgia to flush out the killer. She is placed alone in her apartment with Jed keeping watch outside. She signals Jed every fifteen minutes and he calls Don from a nearby phone booth. Sheila is with Don at the Checkmate office. Jed gets knocked out and then Winters calls Georgia to tell her someone has thrown acid on all the new dresses at the studio and so she heads over there. Not hearing from Jed, Don heads over and finds him just recovering from the blow. Georgia is not at home but he figures she would be at the studio. Georgia arrives and finds that Winters has Foster at gunpoint and he’s going to kill Georgia, then pin it on Foster. But Don distracts him and when he tries to leave, Jed knocks him out. Winters wanted the company. Now Georgia and Foster merge their companies and head for Las Vegas to get married. Since Sheila will be the maid of honour, Jed decides to come along.
Sheila was played by Janet Lake, who started as a model. She appeared on the cover of Life in 1961. She made guest appearances on Hawaiian Eye, Johnny Staccatto, Checkmate, and Thriller. She played secretary Betty Franklin on the sitcom The Tycoon, starring Walter Brennan and Van Williams. Perhaps she would have become a star if the show had lasted more than one season.
I uploaded to YouTube my Batgirl 23 video, edited from season 3, episode 23 of Batman and featuring only the scenes with Batgirl. This one was not blocked either. That’s three in a row. There are three more to post.
