I weighed 86.9 kilos before breakfast.
I worked on getting caught up in my journal.
I weighed 87 kilos before lunch, which is the lightest I’ve been in the early afternoon in a week.
In the afternoon I took a bike ride but only as far as Ossington and Bloor because I wanted to go to Freshco and then to drop by Metro Cycle. At Freshco I bought five bags of red grapes, a pack of raspberries, bananas, avocadoes, and a jug of Garden Cocktail.
I took my groceries home and then took the new bike and the fenders that Nick Cushing gave me to Metro Cycle. Gordon said those fenders don’t cover enough of the wheel. I found out from research online that fenders are highly recommended for a bike with a Brooks leather saddle and they were only thinking of rain and not the salt ponds of Snowronto. I opted for the Axiom fenders, which are expensive but have a lifetime guarantee. The problem is that the busy season is beginning at Metro and Gordon said I will have to leave my bike there for two days. He suggested he’d try to get it done sooner. I’m lucky I’m getting it done now because they get busier and busier until the peak time of May. It’s going to cost me $170 but if I pay cash he won’t charge tax. It’ll be weird not riding my bike tomorrow so I hope it rains. I’ll bug him tomorrow and see if it can get done sooner.
I weighed 86.7 kilos at 18:38.
I was caught up in my journal just before supper.
I had guacamole and salsa with plantain chips and the last of my soy milk while watching episodes 3 and 4 of The Adventures of Batman animated series.
In the first story Mr. Freeze solidifies all the water in Gotham by freezing the reservoir. Batman and Robin head for the Batmobile and go to Commissioner Gordon’s office where they learn there are icebergs in Gotham Harbour and conclude it’s the work of Freeze. At the harbour Freeze freezes some cops just before Batman and Robin arrive. Batman uses the jets on the Batmobile to thaw them out. Batman heads for the Aquarium, which has the only unfrozen water left in town. Meanwhile at the aquarium Freeze has his helicopter lower hooks to steal an entire whale tank. Freeze escapes in his ice cream truck but the Batmobile follows. Freeze ices a bridge and the Batmobile spins over the edge but Batman activates the pontoons. Freeze warns Gordon that he will freeze all Gotham unless he gets $1 billion. Gordon tells Batman the city can’t pay that much. Bruce Wayne says he’ll put his entire fortune into gold bullion to pay the ransom. The gold is delivered but Batman and Robin are there to stop the transaction, Freeze however freezes Robin and takes him away. Batman follows in the Batmobile but then finds there are three identical ice cream trucks. Robin has activated his utility belt homing signal because he just thawed out. Freeze has gone back to the harbour for Wayne’s gold. The barge goes out to sea and Batman and Robin follow in the Bat Boat but the barge disappears because it’s been scuttled and sunk to the bottom. Then Freeze uses the stolen whale, which has been trained by the government to retrieve gold, to locate the gold and follows it there in a submarine. Batman figures the only way to find the gold is to pretend that he and Robin are criminals. That night he has Alfred steal the Melman jewels and as he drives away the Batmobile creates a smoke screen to blind the cops. Later at the Gotham Museum Batman and Robin steal two priceless paintings. When Freeze gets the news he thinks Batman’s finally wised up. The Bat Computer determines that Freeze will next go after the gold shipment from the mint. Freeze intercepts the mint truck but inside with the gold are Batman and Robin. They tie up Freeze and say they are taking the gold. Freeze offers a deal that if they let him go he’ll share all the gold he’s stolen. They agree and release him, then he tells them where he’s hidden it and they drop their cover. But Freeze suspected all along they were only fake criminals and he drops a net on them. He traps them in a block of ice and puts them on a conveyor belt leading to a machine that cuts blocks of ice to ice cubes. But the thermal control units in their utility belts melt the ice blocks from inside enough for them to break out. Freeze is trying to escape in a speed boat but Batman summons the Bat Copter by remote control and pursues him. They jump Freeze and the boat careens towards the ice berg but Batman signals the trained whale, which comes to save them and carry them away. Wayne’s fortune is recovered, Freeze is imprisoned, and Batman and Robin are cleared.
In the second story Batman and Robin come to provide security on the yacht of a visiting member of royalty. A man falls in the water shouting that he can’t swim and Robin saves him. Later the rescued man reports to the Joker that the plan went well. Batman and Robin hear a rumour that the Joker plans to rob the Gotham Toy Fair. At one of the fair’s exhibits a giant jewel encrusted jack in the box is opened to reveal the Joker is inside. His jesters are about to steal the box when Batman and Robin confront them. Joker’s men attack but are taken out fairly quickly. Joker tries to get away and Robin throws his baterang but misses. Over the next few days they keep trying to catch Joker but Robin keeps fumbling. He slams into Batman on his Bat Rope; he throws a Bat Grenade that explodes near Batman; he throws his baterang and hits Batman. It is suggested at Gordon’s office that Robin needs a vacation and so when Joker is sighted near the Gotham clock factory, Batman goes after him alone. But Barbara Gordon happens to overhear and decides to change to Batgirl to assist Batman. Batman and Batgirl enter the clock factory and are knocked out by a swinging clock pendulum. They are each tied to a different clock gear that is slowly turning and will meet and be ground together at midnight. Back at Wayne Manor, Dick is examining his baterang and discovers that it has been weighted at one end to throw off its balance. He sees also that his bat rope has been treated with a liquid that makes it stretch. He then realizes that the man in the water was only pretending to be drowning and he switched his utility belt in the water with another. At the clockworks Batman and Batgirl are about to be crushed together when Robin arrives and throws a baterang to jam the mechanism. Robin frees them as Joker and his men try to escape but Batman, Batgirl and Robin jump them. Robin takes down the Joker.
