I spent a lot of Friday writing about my
first Poetry Master Class from the night before. I was required to comment on
all of the poems that were read that night and so it took a lot of time to try
to think analytically in order to do so. Most of these people are pretty good
writers, so it will be interesting to hear and read their comments about my
poem next Thursday.
In
the evening I used the frozen stewing beef that I got from the food bank a few
weeks ago to make chilli. I used onions, garlic, tomato sauce, chilli peppers, chilli
powder, paprika and some Worcestershire sauce. It turned out pretty good and I
had a bowl with potato chips while watching two episodes of The Big Bang
Theory.
Spoiler
alert!
In
the first story Sheldon has been invited to a remote cabin by an eccentric
theoretical physicist that he’s been corresponding with but has never met. Amy
insists that Leonard accompanies him to keep him safe and so Howard and Raj
also come along. Dr Wolcott’s theories are about time being non-linear and so
when anything happens he’s not sure if it’s already happened. He confiscates
everyone’s phones when they arrive. He invites them to stay for dinner and asks
if they like rabbit. They say they do. He asks if they can tell the difference
between the taste of rabbit and squirrel. They say they can’t. Dr. Wolcott says,
“Then we’re having rabbit!” They leave while Wolcott is out hunting a squirrel.
Meanwhile
Penny and Bernadette throw Amy a bachelorette party but she is disappointed
because the party is a quilting bee. She wanted something wild but she’d told
them she didn’t. Finally they take her out to a bar but Amy passes out after a
shot or two. When Amy wakes up at home they make up wild lies about the crazy
things Amy did before conking out. This makes Amy happy.
In
the second story Penny discovers a comet but since it was Raj’s telescope and
he had positioned it, he takes the credit. Penny is upset. Eventually he gives
in and shares the credit.
Meanwhile
Stewart’s comic shop becomes very busy because Neil Gaiman mentions it on
Twitter. Stewart can’t remember when Gaiman was ever in his shop but we see the
flashback of Gaiman trying to join in a conversation about the strongest metal
in the comic book universe. They are talking about vibranium and adamantium but
when Gaiman mentions Thor’s uru hammer. Stewart doesn't recognize him and
dismisses his comment, saying that it's the magic of Thor's hammer that makes
it powerful and not the metal. Stewart’s shop becomes so busy that he hires an
assistant named Denise. At first Sheldon can’t handle this change but then Denise
is so nice and knowledgeable that he likes her, which makes Amy jealous. Amy
goes to meet Denise and Denise is surprised that Amy is real.
Of
the many implausible situations in that sit-com, the least plausible is that
Leonard would have someone as hot as Penny for a wife. It's not his appearance
and it’s not the fact that his character is a nerd. Someone with his low level
of self-confidence would not likely be with someone like her. Anything’s
possible, but that’s just not probable.
