Thirty years ago today

            I worked with Bud and just wore my t-shirt on a beautiful sixteen-degree day.

            After work I had to carry my coat and my sweater home on my arm.

            I stopped to buy some fruit at Mr Grocer and on my way out I ran into a woman who I used to notice at the Green Dolphin. Victoria introduced her to me once but I didn’t remember her name.

She said, “You always used to sit and look at me but you never said anything.”

I explained, “I’m pretty shy.”

She responded, “You’re too big to be shy.”

She told me, “You look good since you gained weight.”

I weighed myself at the pharmacy on the way home and I was 81 kilos.
