July 2, 1990: Jennifer called after midnight sounding emotionally shell-shocked but said she'd be ready to talk soon

Thirty years ago today

We finished work at 16:00 even though we had fallen behind because of the holiday.
When I got home I got a call from a woman doing market research on radio stations. I was puzzled by her southern US accent until she told me that she was calling from Chicago. Then I just assumed in my mind that she was probably black.
I had been waiting for a call from Jennifer ever since I left her place two nights before. She finally called late that night, sounding emotionally shell-shocked but telling me she would be ready to talk soon. She made a sort of tentative date with me for Wednesday.
