September 15, 1991: It was the fourth day of the TTC strike. The Golden Griddle wasn't great but it was better than being trapped in Scarborough

Thirty years ago today

On Sunday it was the fourth day of the TTC strike and so in the early afternoon Nancy, her sister Susan, the baby and I got a ride to the Golden Griddle for the breakfast buffet. It wasn't that great but it was better than sitting around the house trapped in Scarborough. The baby was taking quite an interest in our food. When she was held near the table she opened her mouth wide and lowered her head down towards the plate in the same way she would move towards a nipple. I thought we should start giving her some vegetable juice but Nancy wanted to wait another month. Nancy's mother picked us up and then we went to a couple of markets. I bought some comic books. Later we rented L.A. Story and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. I loved L.A. Story but Scoundrels was just okay. Nancy fell asleep as usual.
