On Tuesday morning I worked out the chords for the third verse of “Au revoir mon enfance” (Goodbye My Childhood) by Boris Vian.
I memorized the second verse of “Le rent' dedans” (The Pick-Up) by Serge Gainsbourg but it took three sessions and some extra time today. The subsequent verses will be easier though because all the odd verses share the first three lines of the opening verse and the even stanzas repeat the first three lines of the second verse.
I weighed 88.95 kilos before breakfast, which is the heaviest I’ve been in the morning since October 7.
I played my Kramer during song practice and it went out of tune quite a bit but not as much as the Gibson did yesterday. Tomorrow I begin a four session stretch of playing my Martin acoustic.
Around midday I used my new stepladder for the first time and it’s lighter and quieter than the landlord’s. I put Frog Tape all along the tops of the bathroom walls to prepare to paint the ceiling tomorrow. It’s very difficult to get it exactly straight, especially in the corners. While I worked I was listening to Jimmy Cliff’s discography. There was a knock on my door and it was my new upstairs neighbour Jacob. He told me he wasn’t feeling well today and the bass was getting to him and so I turned it down.
I got a call from Dr. Croitoru’s office at Mount Sinai and got an appointment for a consultation prior to getting a colonoscopy. The person who booked me was very nice. She thought my email address was clever.
I weighed 89.25 kilos before lunch.
In the afternoon I took a bike ride downtown and on the way back I stopped at Freshco where I bought seven bags of red grapes because they were very cheap.
I weighed 89.15 kilos at 18:20.
I was behind on my journal and so I didn’t get caught up until 20:30.
I reviewed an audio porn cassette tape that I found somewhere years ago but never listened to it. It reminded me of why I turn the sound down when I watch porn. It was horribly boring. I had thought I might scan it and keep it for the sounds to maybe use it for something some day. There was nothing worth keeping.
I had a potato with gravy and a piece of roast beef while trying to watch episode 20 of Cain’s Hundred.
It was an incomplete file and it kept freezing so I couldn’t really follow the story. This is all I could piece together: In a town with a casino Jay Adams is running for district attorney as the “anti corruption” candidate against a crooked DA named Tully Johnson. There are women in jail. Someone has been killed by a great marksman. During one of Adams’ rallies Johnson cuts into the public address system to play a recording of Adams saying things that show he is also corrupt.
Eve Forbes, who was maybe one of the women in jail, was played by Jean Allison. While performing in the play called Teach Me How to Cry she was spotted by a Hollywood agent. Her feature film debut was a co-starring role in Edge of Fury. She co-starred in Devil’s Partner.
