November 15, 1995: Christian and the Lions played the Rivoli

Thirty years ago today

On Wednesday I attended a focus group at noon at 573 King on the south side and my planner says “Mr. Big and Tall”. It doesn’t say whether it’s King east or west and I assume “Mr. Big and Tall” is a reference to proximity and not the location itself.
That night my band Christian and the Lions performed at the Rivoli for a literary event sponsored by the U of T Bookstore. Jim Bravo played drums for us. I made funny introductions for each of the Lions. Arjan had me introduce him as Dr. Chicago. I said Jim Bravo is worshipped as a god on Baffin Island and that only Dr. Chicago has the key’s to Jim Bravo’s dreadlocks. I said Steve Lowe is a CIA agent who came to Canada to investigate why Canadian cheddar is so much better than US cheddar and so he joined a cheesy rock and roll band. We got a free meal from the Rivoli’s kitchen but even though Steve stressed that he was vegetarian he got shrimp in his pad Thai.
