On the Saturday evening of September 3rd the only clouds were a faint purplish band running along the horizon over the distant lake to the south.
I rode to
Springdale and Glebemount.
On
Danforth, near Coxwell is the Sharing Depot: the Library of Things. For fifty
dollars a year one can borrow for a week at a time all kinds of items, such as
camping and sports equipment, games and toys.
Danforth
and Bloor were full of shuttle busses, because the subway wasn’t running. At
Yonge Street there was a line-up for the eastbound bus that stretched
two-thirds of the way down to Charles Street.
A vespa
passed me going south at around Gerrard and Yonge. It was blasting rock and
roll music and both the driver and passenger were tapping their feet to the
beat at the light. The scooter had seven rear view mirrors on each side and
attached to the aerial at the back was a raccoon tail.
On Sunday, September 4th I went for my bike
ride under a boringly clear sky.
There
wasn’t a lot of bike traffic on Bloor or Danforth, but there were lots of
shuttle busses to pass or sit behind. No big line-ups of passengers like the
day before though.
I rode to
Sammon and Glebemount, and all the side streets that I explored in the area
were pretty quiet.
