Linda Gaye Scott

On Sunday morning I think I had food poisoning from the souvlaki that I put on my pizza. I should have frozen them after grilling and just thawed out two at a time.
I finished working out the chords for all the verses of “Aberdeen et Kowloon” by Serge Gainsbourg. All that’s left is figuring out the instrumental parts.
I played my Kramer electric guitar during song practice for the second session of four.
I weighed 88.4 kilos before breakfast, which is the heaviest I’ve been in the morning since March 1.
I had planned on taking an early bike ride to shop for an external hard drive but it rained all morning and a little after. Instead I put my laundry away.
I weighed 88.9 kilos before lunch. That’s a record for this year. It’s 3.5 kilos heavier than this time last year.
In the afternoon I took a bike ride downtown and back.
            I weighed 87.9 kilos at 17:23.
I was caught up on my journal at 18:45. I reviewed the videos of my song practice performances of “Mamadou” and “The Post Colonial Breakdown” and from August 7 to 11 of last year. I played “Mamadou” on my Kramer electric guitar on August 7 and it sounded okay but the light wasn’t good and the camera was out of focus. I played it on my Martin acoustic guitar on August 9 and 11. On August 9 the take at 26:15 was not bad and it looked good though there was some traffic noise. On August 11 the take at 4:00 in part B wasn’t bad, but there was traffic noise. On August 8 I played “The Post Colonial Breakdown” on the Kramer and it was okay but the light was not good. On August 10 I played it on the Martin and the take at 27:00 was pretty good but the light wasn’t great.
I finished watching the Greta Garbo silent film Wild Orchids
John Sterling is in Java to invest in tea plantations and has brought his beautiful wife Lillie along. On the boat there they meet Prince de Gance who has invited them to stay at his estate while they are in Java. De Gance has designs on Lillie and already kissed her once on the boat, then again at his estate. The three of the them travel by car to look at plantations but they are caught in a rainstorm and take shelter in a small house that the prince seems to also own. John wants to continue on his own and asks the prince to look after Lillie until he gets back. She avoids de Gance but he confronts her and tells her that she is afraid of herself. He kisses her and she responds passionately. Then John returns and sees their silhouettes against the drawn shade. John says he wants to kill a tiger before leaving Java. The prince arranges a hunting trip and they are camping in tents. They hear a tiger that night and John wants hunt it. He hands the prince a rifle and they head into the jungle. Lillie realizes that John knows about her affair and that he plans to kill de Gance. She runs into the jungle after them. The men see a tiger and the prince aims and pulls the trigger but John has emptied his gun. Now John is pointing his rifle at de Gance. The prince runs but is jumped by the tiger. John shoots it. Lillie holds the prince and then he goes limp but later he revives. John saves him and he is returned to his plantation. John learns that de Gance will be fine and then leaves but when he gets in the car Lillie is there waiting for him. She says he is the only man she has ever loved. That’s the end.
I’ve deleted everything but the parts that show Lillie in bed, to match my line, “restless days of hopeless sleep”. Tomorrow I’ll edit those parts.
I grilled a pack of chicken kebobs. Then I made pizza with the multigrain pizza crust, Basilica sauce, two of the kebobs sliced and five-year-old cheddar. I had it with a beer while watching season 3, episodes 21 and 22 of Bewitched
Endora tells Samantha that the community of witches is finally fed up with Clara’s bumbling witchcraft. Last weekend Clara, Endora, Agatha, and Enchantra were staying at lady Montague’s castle in Scotland and Clara made one devastating blunder after another. They have decided that Clara should be placed on trial with Judge Bean presiding and their intention is that she should be grounded with her powers removed. Clara has asked that Samantha act in her defense. The next morning after Darrin has left for work Clara arrives by way of the chimney and out of the furnace. She tells Samantha what happened at Montague’s estate. They all went hunting and Clara killed one of Lady Montague’s dogs. But to be fair they didn’t inform her that they were hunting birds. Agatha and Enchantra arrive as usual in their magical Model T named “MacBeth” and they bring Judge Bean with them. Bean transforms Samantha’s living room into a courtroom. The witches make their case against Clara and the judge is ready to rule right away but allows Samantha to give her defense. She moves that the trial be dismissed on the grounds of love. The judge says “Motion denied!” Samantha tries to prove that Clara is a competent witch starting with a simple levitation spell but Samantha has to secretly help her with that. In every other test Clara fails. The judge rules that at daybreak Clara will be earthbound. Suddenly Darrin walks in and Clara immediately causes the courtroom the witches and the judge to disappear. That display of power causes Bean to reverse his sentence.
In the second story Darrin learns he is leaving at the last minute for Hawaii. Samantha thinks that means her too but Darrin says it’s just him and the clients. He leaves for work and then Endora appears to say she doesn’t believe Darrin. Samantha insists that he really wishes she could go. So to prove her point Endora gives Darrin three wishes. When Darrin gets to work he learns that Larry is going to Honolulu instead of him and he is happy to call Samantha to let her know. But now that Larry’s going to be away Darrin will have to do his boss’s work. That will include taking the attractive bathing suit model Buffy Baker to the Regional Sales Convention Luncheon and cocktails. Endora thinks Darrin has gotten his first wish. Later Darrin meets Buffy and she is very attractive but she can barely see without her glasses. Her company however wants her to not wear her glasses and so she bumps into things a lot. After the luncheon Darrin breaks the news to Samantha that he has to fly to Boston with Buffy that night to introduce her at a sales banquet. He promises he’ll be back in time for dinner. Endora thinks Darrin and Buffy in Boston is Darrin’s second wish. That night as Samantha is getting a romantic dinner together for Darrin he calls to tell her he is still in Boston because of a freak snowstorm. Endora thinks that’s his third wish. Later Buffy knocks on Darrin’s hotel room to tell him her flight to Chicago was canceled and she can’t get a room. Darrin says she can stay in his room and he’s going to the airport to wait for the first flight out. That night Samantha calls Darrin’s room and Buffy answers. Meanwhile Darrin is uncomfortably sleeping on an airport bench. When Darrin gets home Samantha is cold and announces she is leaving him. She tells him about the three wishes that proved he was unfaithful. Darrin proves to Samantha that he didn’t use any of the wishes. First he conjures Endora and second he banishes her for a week. Samantha doesn’t need the third wish to believe him. She levitates her luggage back upstairs and they kiss and make up.
Buffy was played by Linda Gaye Scott, who appeared on the cover of Jan and Dean’s second album for the song, “Jan and Dean Take Linda Surfin”. She played Moth on Batman, the alien Vama on The Green Hornet, a space hippie on Lost in Space, and a robot sex worker in the movie Westworld. She now runs an orphanage for rescue animals.
