Adam was a Golem

On Sunday morning I searched online for an audio file of “Marine Band Tremolo” by Serge Gainsbourg but couldn’t find one. It comes from the album “Souviens-toi de m'oublier” by Catherine Deneuve and in the song I assume Deneuve recites the lyrics with music playing in the background. Since I couldn’t hear it I had no choice but to post the lyrics and my translation without the usual chords I would have worked out. Tomorrow I’ll post my translation on Facebook and then move on to the next Gainsbourg song from 1981.
I weighed 85.1 kilos before breakfast.
In the late morning I cleaned by motorcycle jacket with leather lotion.
I tried to find a solution to the problem of the hum in Windows voice recordings made of my mic through the Scarlett USB interface. I compared the Samson mic that my daughter bought me and it has the same hum. I tried putting the interface on top of a pillow and also extending it as far away from the computer as possible but it still hummed in the recording. I checked online and someone said that Windows 10 had defaults for fixing that problem. They said one had to go from System to Sound; to Sound Control Panel; to Recording; to Microphone; to Enhancements. Then the guy said if I did not see “Enhancements” I had to install a new driver. I tried to do that but it didn’t change anything. There are supposed to be several things within Enhancements that might fix the humming problem but I couldn’t make Enhancements show up as an option.
I weighed 85.4 kilos before lunch. I had Ritz crackers with five-year-old cheddar and a glass of raspberry lemonade.
In the afternoon I took a bike ride to Yonge and Bloor. It was the first time in several days when I haven’t been shopping for something on my ride. It was more relaxing to have less for my mind to focus on.
            I weighed 85.3 kilos at 17:30.
I continued to try and fix the mic problem. Someone said to open the Run Dialogue Box and type something that took me to Windows Audio. I was told to click Stop and then Start. But that didn’t change anything. Enhancements still didn’t show up.
I had an egg sunny side up, a toasted slice of Bavarian sandwich bread, and a beer while watching two episodes of Astro Boy.
In the first story, when a little boy robot named Peewee and a human little boy named Tommy are playing, they have an argument over a toy. Peewee hits Tommy and he begins to cry. When his father sees this he turns the town against robots. The robots take shelter in the robot church but a mob chases them out of town. They entrench themselves at the Amless Dam. Tommy has gone missing and Tommy’s father thinks he is a hostage. Led by Big Boss Barker the mob gathers at the foot of the dam and makes two demands: Turn over Tommy and return to being slaves. The robots’ leader, the priest Frere Martin reminds them that it is against their programming to take a child as a hostage. He also reminds them that robots have been emancipated by law, and are no longer slaves to humans.
When Astro Boy hears of this he flies to help. At the dam he finds the robots are all low on energy and so he gives them each some of his own. This takes away his ability to fly. The humans begin their attack and so a big robot named Thermo holds them off by first shooting freezing weather at them and then hot weather. He alternates between the two until one human shoots a hook at him that snags him and pulls him off the dam. Then a human named Ralph the Wrecker, who has the ability to dismantle any machine with lightning speed, destroys Thermo. Then an army of mechanical soldiers is shot to the top of the dam to attack the robots. A team of robots figures correctly that the soldiers are being controlled by a machine, which they destroy.
When night comes Astro Boy tells the other robots to disguise themselves as ghosts and goblins because that is what humans are most afraid of. So when the humans try to attack at night they are scared off. Then Astro Boy discovers that Tommy has been hiding with the robots all along while disguised as a robot because he was lonely without his robot friends. Astro Boy returns Tommy to his father, but now Boss Barker says there is nothing to stop them from making a full attack on the robots. Frere Martin is destroyed.
Then Astro Boy sees Cacciatore the ring master who used to own him back in the first episode. He plans to reclaim Astro Boy and sends his robot slave Satorno to capture him. Satorno traps Astro Boy in glue and is about to swat him when Tommy says he needs to say so long to Astro Boy. He threatens Cacciatore that he will tell all of his friends to stay away from his circus if he does not let him say goodbye. Cacciatore allows it but Tommy has connected a cable from Satorno to Astro Boy and drained Satorno’s power to his friend. Astro Boy can fly again and destroys the weapons of the humans.
Tommy’s father tries to take him home but he says he wants to stay with the robots and runs away. But Tommy falls down a pipe and is trapped. The network of pipes by the dam is so complex no one knows where to look but Astro Boy finds him. But Tommy is in a space too small for Astro Boy to reach and so he brings Peewee to help rescue his friend. Then everybody, including Barker, likes the robots again.
In the second story a missile from the stars hits the Earth in Egypt, landing on the property of the oil tycoon Hugh Flacid. Dr. Elefun recognizes the scraps of metal that are recovered as the parts of a monster from Galaxy G called Galeom. Elefun says the parts must be destroyed immediately. But Greasy Gus, Flacid’s Vice President in Charge of Making More Money, wants to assemble the giant robot. When Elefun leaves to get help from the government, Gus assembles Galeom. Later there is a lightning storm and a strike brings him to life. Galeom is unstoppable, even by Astro Boy. The robots of the world are assembled to help fight the robot monster.
Dr. Elefun is building a huge centrifugal machine in Aswan that will destroy Galeom but it will take two days to complete. Astro Boy plans to stall Galeom for two days by fighting him with half the robots in Giza and then staging another battle in Aswan the next day. Galeom wins the first fight and Astro Boy tells him to meet the rest of the robots at the Aswan Dam the next day. Galeom defeats all but Astro Boy with five minutes before the machine is ready. But Astro Boy is about to be crushed when a heroic but injured robot uses his last bit of strength to knock Galeom down. Astro Boy now lures Galeom to the pit at the bottom of which is the centrifuge. Galeom slips and falls in and he is once again broken into parts, which are later launched into space.
According to Jewish folklore, Adam was a Golem because he was fashioned from clay. But several Golems were made before him that failed to have the ability to speak. Adam was the first successful and intelligent Golem. I went to bed at 21:30 and got up at 23:00. I got caught up on my journal and didn’t get to bed until after 2:00.
