Thirty years ago today
On Friday there was still no Unemployment Insurance cheque in the mail and so I went up to the office. They told me the cheque was just mailed that day. They also let me fill out an advance card so my next cheque would be mailed in a week. I ran into Tom Smarda busking at the corner of Danforth and Pape and he leant me $2 without my asking for it. I used it to buy a lottery ticket and to make a couple of phone calls.
