Hayden Rorke

On Saturday morning I worked out the chords for the intro and the first two verses of "Partie perdue" (Losing Leaving) by Serge Gainsbourg.
I weighed 85.4 kilos before breakfast.
In the late morning I headed out to the supermarket and up the street I saw a guy in a striped dress shirt and a straw hat who looked familiar. When he looked back I saw it was my upstairs neighbour David, so I stopped to chat. I asked if he'd seen any bedbugs and he said he's seen a few. I told him the landlord said he'd call pest control and so David said he'd leave his key with me when they come. I told him he has to let Raja know that he wants his place done, otherwise it won't be on the technician's schedule for that day. David asked who fixed the hallway door and I told him it was me. He appreciated it because one time he tried and he almost couldn't get out. As usual, David insisted on giving me some money and it's impossible to refuse him.
At No Frills I got four bags of green grapes, a bag of oranges, a pack of seven-year-old cheddar, a pack of chicken drumsticks, a loaf of cinnamon-raisin bread, and a container of skyr. I tried to find horseradish to have with my sausage and was surprised that there didn't seem to be any. I decided to buy David a bottle of maple syrup and so I got one for me as well. They were covered by the $20 he gave me. I gave it to him when I got back and he appreciated it. He usually fist bumps me but this time he shook my hand.
I started trying to work on my essay but dozed off in front of the computer for about half an hour.
I weighed 85.7 kilos before lunch. I haven't weighed that much at that time in over a month.
            I weighed 84.9 kilos at 17:15.
I was caught up on my journal at 18:06.
I finished making notes on Beowulf for my essay and started the actual writing. My essay's due in ten days.
I grilled five hot Italian sausages in the oven and had one with Dijon, maple barbecue sauce, and sliced dill pickle on a toasted slice of Bavarian sandwich bread. I ate dinner with a beer while watching the first season finale of The Beverly Hillbillies.
Jethro's fifth grade school chum, Armstrong Deuser McHugh III comes to visit. Jethro calls him Little Doozey and so that's what the Clampetts call him. He is brought by an overprotective chauffeur named Wilkens who is married to Doozey's governess. Wilkens immediately gets under Granny's skin by insisting on spraying the Clampett house with an allergy spray to settle the dust before Doozey enters. She doesn't appreciate being told there is dust in the house she cleans every day. Wilkens claims that Doozey has many allergies, is very sickly, and sees several specialists. Wilkens leaves antihistamine pills, tranquilizers, acid pills, anti acid pills, vitamins, iron, liver pills, yeast extract, and antibiotics. He says Doozey has a very delicate constitution but at lunch the boy wolfs down the hog jowls like it's his final meal. Doozey explains that he hardly ever sees his parents because they like to travel and they've left him in the care of a governess and Wilkens.
When Wilkens comes back to pick Doozey up, Granny tells him Doozey doesn't want to leave yet because he's having too much fun. Wilkens says he's not allowed to have fun because of his blood pressure. Granny says she'll tell him when he comes down from the tree. Wilkens insists on taking Doozey home and up until now Granny has been lenient with the chauffeur because she thinks his grey uniform is that of a Confederate soldier. Wilkens assures her that it's not and that he will take Armstrong like Grant took Richmond. Granny literally throws Wilkens out of the house.
Wilkens goes to Milburn Drysdale and Jane Hathaway to help him get Doozey back. He says Granny threatened him with a shotgun and Drysdale asks, "What did you say about the south?"
Meanwhile Jethro teaches Doozey to swim; Elly teaches him self defence; Jed teaches him how to whittle a whistle, gives him a knife, and lets him call him Uncle Jed; and Granny teaches him how to fish.
When Wilkens comes and tries to force Doozey to leave, Doozey flips him like Elly taught. Then when Wilkens sees Elly's pet skunk Charlie he tries to spray it but gets sprayed back.
Doozey was played by Michel Petit, who became a production manager.
Wilkens was played by Hayden Rorke, who studied at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. The first decade of his acting career was in the theatre, including Broadway. He was serving in the army in WWII when he appeared in his first film, "This is the Army". He played Steve on the sitcom Mr. Adams and Eve. He is best known for playing Dr. Alfred E. Bellows on I Dream of Jeannie. He played Colonel Farnsworth on the short-lived sitcom No Time for Sergeants".

I searched for bedbugs and found one on the left side of the frame of the old exit door at the head of my bed, about a meter above my pillow. It had fresh blood inside. Then when I went to the bathroom to wash my hands I found a bedbug that had no blood inside on a towel. I don't know how it got there.
