Judith McConnell

On Sunday morning I worked out the chords for the second verse of "La Dernière valse" (Final Waltz) by Boris Vian.
I also worked out the chords for the complicated chorus of and the third verse of "Quoi" by Serge Gainsbourg. There's only the instrumental and the final verse to finish.
A homeless woman wrapped in a blanket crossed the street and found a bag of clothes that was left on the sidewalk across from my place. She went through the bag and expertly folded everything before returning it to the bag and leaving with her score.
I weighed 85.1 kilos before breakfast.
Around midday I finished cleaning the eastern wall of my bathroom and the toilet. I washed most of the northern wall and now all that's left is the bottom part near the bathtub and the western wall tiles above the bathtub. Those are still stained from when I dyed my daughter's hair black when she was in her teens because she wanted to go Goth for Halloween.
I weighed 85.2 kilos before lunch. I had Breton crackers with five-year-old cheddar and a glass of limeade.
In the afternoon I took a bike ride downtown and back.
When I got home I ran the cold water to get a drink and the kitchen sink started filling up. I tried to plunge them and some gunk came up but suddenly it started leaking under the sink. I had to take everything out from under the sink and soak of the water with paper towels. I can't use the sink until it's been fixed. This exact same thing happened on February 25, 2022. Why is it that my bathroom pipes never leak? Because they are metal and these are plastic?
I weighed 85.2 kilos at 17:45. I got the number of my landlord's handyman Yogi and called him. He said he'll come by tonight. I was caught up on my journal at 19:00.
I finished reviewing the videos of me playing "The Wooden Leg" on July 10, 12, and 14; and "La jambe de bois" on July 11, 13, and 15. None of the French ones came out without the C# being off in the beginning. The English ones on July 10 and 12 might be okay. I now need to re-review the ones that I noted as being better. Those are "The Wooden Leg" on June 11, 20, July 10, and 12; and "La jambe de bois" on June 14, July 3, and 9. So that's a total of seven that I can probably go through tomorrow.
In the Movie Maker project for creating a video of my song "Instructions for Electroshock Therapy" I cut the video clip of the syringe being prepped and then injected down from a minute to twenty-one seconds. I'll try inserting the smiling nurse with the needle into the main video tomorrow.
I made pizza on naan with Basilica sauce, a cut up hot pepperette, and five-year-old cheddar. I had it with a beer while watching season 8, episodes 10 and 11 of The Beverly Hillbillies.
In the first story Jed and Granny read in the Silver Dollar City Gazette that Shorty Kellem sold his hotel, his land, his house and his silver mine. A minute later Shorty pulls into the Clampett driveway. He's chained to a suitcase containing his fortune. He says he can live like a king for the rest of his life on what's in that case, which is $1,380. He has a jar of 200 one dollar bills that are twice as large as regular dollars. The only silver he ever got out of the mine is when he found a spoon somebody dropped. Shorty decided to travel with his money to the most exciting place in the country and so he headed for Hot Springs, Arkansas. But he took a wrong turn and he was halfway to Beverly Hills before he knew it so he decided to visit them instead. He asks Jed to take him to a Hollywood party and Jed says okay but wants to know where it is. Drysdale arrives to announce that Jed now has $90 million in the bank. Jethro tells Drysdale that Shorty has bigger money than Jed has and Drysdale misunderstands that he has $200 million. Drysdale wants him to deposit his money in his bank, but Shorty is shy of banks. When Drysdale learns Shorty is looking for a wild Hollywood party he promises him one. But first he has to deposit his money, so he puts in $1100. Drysdale gets several of the attractive female employees at his bank, two of whom seem to be professional belly dancers to entertain Shorty in a Roman style toga party. But Mrs. Drysdale hears about it and breaks up the party.
Yogi arrived in between the two shows. He said the leak is happening because the locknut of the strainer is stripped. He snaked the drain and said not to use the left sink until the locknut is replaced. I can still use the right sink. I noticed later that while he was here he'd also tightened the new fixture that the landlord didn't install securely. I'd mentioned it to him but didn't ask him to fix it.
He asked me who is going to be the next mayor of Toronto. I said it looks like it'll be Olivia Chow. He said he's concerned that she's going to raise his taxes for all the spending she'll do. But he also said somebody's got to do something about the homeless situation in the city. I said no other city has ever fixed homelessness. It's often a mental health issue.
In the second story Drysdale and his attractive female employees continue to believe that Shorty is loaded. Shorty has been dating four of them all in one night at different times. Now that Shorty's money is in his bank Drysdale fires the girls. But then Jane points out that Shorty's deposit slip only shows $1180. Drysdale assumes that Shorty has yet to deposit his big money and calls the women back, promising one of them a bonus if she gets Shorty to deposit his big money. The girls come after Shorty and want to take him to Vegas. But Drysdale doesn't want him to go to Vegas and instead sets up a casino beside the Clampett pool. But Drysdale learns from Jethro that Shorty doesn't have $200 million but rather $200 in big dollars. When the women find out that Shorty's not rich they throw him in the pool. I don't know how much those big US dollars were worth then, but I think they are worth $250 each now and so Shorty was carrying a large sum.
Jeanne the bank secretary was played by Judith McConnell, who was Miss Pennsylvania in 1965. She won the Special Talent award in the 1965 Miss America pageant. Her first acting role was on Judd for the Defence. She played Yeoman Tankris in the Star Trek episode "Wolf In The Fold." She played Eb's girlfriend on Green Acres. She played Sophia Capwell on Santa Barbara from 1984 to 1993. She was in the movie "The Weather Man."

Gloria was played by Bettina Brenna, who co-starred in "Un italiano in America".
