June 16, 1991: The baby knew what was on the table was food and opened her mouth the way she would for the nipple

Thirty years ago today

On Sunday it was Fathers Day and Nancy's sister Susan bought me some neat stuff. A pen with a picture of a man and woman in swimming suits that drain away when it's flipped up; a Chinese brush, a container of black ink and some incense.
We planned to go out to dinner and Nancy wanted to go early but her father wanted to go strawberry picking first. We cleaned up the kitchen while they were out. When they came back Nancy wasn't ready because she wanted the baby to have just gone to sleep.
We finally went to the Olive Garden but the baby started crying as soon as the air conditioning hit her nostrils. We tried to sit but she kept going "Wah!" Nancy got very frustrated and so I held the baby and walked her around for a while.
When the baby saw us eating she knew it was food and she opened her mouth and tilted her head towards what was on the plates the way she would for the nipple.
