December 4, 1991: Sorting Christmas mail was fairly easy but it took time to remember the slots for all the cities and provinces

Thirty years ago today

On Wednesday at 0:00 they called us from the cafeteria, showed us around the main postal station, and then took us to a room for a lecture. The training took three hours, and then we were escorted to the second floor to sort mail. It was fairly easy work but it took time to remember where the slots were for the various cities and provinces. Also since I'd been up since Tuesday morning I found myself dozing off.
We finished at 6:00 and I headed straight for River and Dundas. I was a little early and so I went and got a coffee. When I came back Ray from Speedy was there but Bill Black didn't show. We had to wait around two hours for another driver. We finished at around 17:00 and I got dropped off by Mike La Grangeur at the subway. I hadn't slept for almost 36 hours.
